Events to Remember
Hui Makaala Fashion Show and Luncheon
The girls headed back to the Sheraton Waikiki the next day after the Lupus event and relaxed at the Hui Makaala Fashion show featuring Haouli Tapestries.
19th Annual Honolulu Wine Festival "Imagine" 2008
A Benefit for Lupus Hawaii
An evening of food, wine, and Roni's cocktails...backup what "Roni's Cocktails?" SWAM represented with a theme of their own on their table. We featured our favorite varietal, shiraz, with wineries coincidentally began with the letter R. Aside from the great wines, SWAM poured Cabana cachaca cocktails. Roni girl, De Ann, and I were 'expiramenting' with the unfamiliar liquor and decided not to go with the obivious caparihna or mojito. The girls came up with two original recipes: Cho Cabana-ya and Cabana Buttermint which were an absolute hit. The SWAM crew celebrated at Level 4 for an after party.
Off the Wall Sake Tasting
Sandaa Sensei and Kyle served up a taste of Okinawa and Japan at their restaurant Off the Wall in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center. Feasting on sushi and shoyu pork, all the while, tasting sake, awamori, and Orion Beer can make the samurai happy. Check out the pics...
Suntory/Bowmore Scotch Dinner
An evening with Suntory & Bowmore, Off the Wall cuisine, and great conversation flowed like the spring waters from Scotland to Japan. Grant Murata and Kyle Matsumoto from Off the Wall paired each scotch with their unique twist and it was genius!! A portion the evening's proceeds will help my cousin Marlo, the young one pictured, finance her way to Scotland. No, she's not running away....Marlo and her fellow classmates from the Castle Performing Arts are invited to attend and perform in next year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Castle High School is the only public high school in Hawaii to be invited to such a prestigious event. We wish her well. As for the scotch, the surprise hit of the evening was the Bowmore Legend (8 year). Since the event was so much fun, we will be having another dinner perhaps....bourbon. Look for it in the upcoming months.

Chez's MidSummer's Pour
On this midsummer's evening, the leeward side was sparkling in a joyous affair with wine. SWAM and Chez's teamed up again and we had a great time sampling over 40 wines and spirits. Joining us this time was Bistro Blends, bread dipping sauces and marinades. Events International brought the Johnnie Walker Etching machine and etched a Johnnie Blue for SWAM. We also had a blind tasting contest benefiting the Well of Hope Foundation. Congratulations to Audrey who placed first and Reynold took second. Check out the pics..
Johnnie Walker Tasting at E&O Trading
Hosted by M&S Brokrage, we sat down with Steve Beal, Master of Spirits and Ambassador of the Johnnie Walker for an extraordinary evening with dishes paired to go with each Johnnie Walker. Topping off the evening was the Grande Finale, tasting the King George V. This whisky was created for King George V, King of England and a very good friend of the Johnnie Walker family. J Walker's King George V is blended with very rare single malts aging as far back as 50 yrs and malts from extinct distilleries. If you are ever at E&O Trading, the King George V is available.
Well of Hope Golf Tournament
Team SWAM performed 'well' at the Inaugural Well of Hope Golf Tourney placing 7th in a field over 30 teams. Thanks to Derek Yamakami, Southern Wine and Spirits; Eric Nakasone, Itoen Beverages, and Keith Nakama, Oceanic Time Warner.
